We do this because
The world is changing

Emerging epidemic-prone diseases, exacerbated by climate change, are unfolding within a global context marked by economic and geopolitical instability.
These dynamics threaten the progress achieved in global health, particularly as international support weakens due to factors such as reduced funding, climate crises, wars, and economic downturns. At the same time, a paradigm shift is occurring in international cooperation, with growing recognition of the need to confront the colonial past and move toward decolonization and regionalization in public health approaches.
Amid increasing demographic pressure on health systems, some governments are taking greater ownership and intensifying their efforts to strengthen health systems and enhance national resilience.
How?
By harmonizing our actions with our respective partners to maximize impact. Through mutual encouragement, we and our partners drive innovation and continuous improvement, strategically leveraging each organization’s expertise to support local health actors.
By sharing resources, we are able to focus our collective efforts on strengthening health systems. This collaboration fosters agile decision-making and rapid response, while promoting inclusive dialogue between rights holders and duty bearers.

Together, we can do more, better
Our work

Ensure that more communities, especially those experiencing health inequities, are empowered to take ownership and contribute to better healthcare.
Strive for available, accessible, acceptable, affordable, well-managed and qualitive health facilities. The HIC connects and strengthens each level of the health pyramid, from to community health service to hospital, to offer better quality services, contributing to a stronger, more integrated, and resilient health system, universal health care and health equity, even during crises.
Capacitate and empower health workers at each level of the health pyramid, particularly in underserved regions. We lobby for better working conditions and recognition for their work.
Our strategy
Influence and contribute to the design and implementation of national health policies targeting the six building blocks of the health system.
We build strong legitimacy, visibility and reputation as the proactive Belgian global health partner (SD5).
We will develop new organizational models, economic models, and revenue streams.
